• LPEA to host the “Basics of Bulbs” workshop, Feb. 28

Free informational series to further energy efficiency lighting education

Continuing its Free Information Series designed to help members “save their energy,” La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) will host the “Basics of Bulbs,” Thursday, Feb. 28, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at LPEA’s headquarters in Bodo Industrial Park, Durango. All those interested in learning more about new lighting technology are invited to attend. Lunch will be served.

“Not all light bulbs are created equal,” said Ray Pierotti, project specialist who oversees lighting programs for LPEA. “And lighting technology is changing quickly. We really hope to answer a lot of questions for our members, especially concerning the newer, energy-efficient LED bulbs. Though the price for LEDs is dropping, the cost remains much higher than other lighting sources, so it pays for members to do their homework before purchasing.”

At the time of the LPEA workshop, Pierotti will have just returned from a national lighting conference that will cover technology now and into the future. He anticipates having the latest information available for consumers. LPEA also offers a selection of rebates for both residents and businesses who invest in new lighting technology, and these options will be reviewed at the workshop as well.

Because lunch will be served, those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to Pierotti, rpierotti@lpea.coop or 970.382.7770.

LPEA, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative established in 1939, provides to its more than 30,000 members, with nearly 41,000 meters, safe, reliable electricity at the lowest reasonable cost, while being environmentally responsible.
