IBEW members of LPEA organize “Fill the Bucket” food drive Nov. 17

Volunteers to collect food/cash donations for community food banks

PAGOSA SPRINGS/DURANGO, Colo. – Responding to community needs in advance of the holidays, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (Local IBEW 111 26 and 26A), of La Plata Electric Association (LPEA), will host the 11th Annual “Fill the Bucket” food drive, Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

LPEA personnel and the “bucket trucks” will be at both City Market and Hometown Food Market in Pagosa Springs, and in Durango at South City Market, to collect non-perishable food items (canned goods or boxed/bagged dry goods). Donated food will be distributed to community food banks in both Archuleta and La Plata counties.

“We truly love doing this every year, helping support our community,” said Pagosa Fleet Mechanic Jeremy Gurule, who annually coordinates the event. “The need continues to grow, so we want to help our friends and neighbors stock their pantries for this coming winter.”

Cash donations for the food banks are also welcomed, and donors can make arrangements to give directly by calling Gurule at 970.317.0496 or bring a donation by the LPEA offices in Pagosa Springs (603 S. 8th St.) or in Durango (45 Stewart St. in Bodo Park). Checks can be made payable to the IBEW Local 111 Brotherhood Fund. All donated funds will be distributed directly to the food banks.

“We’re very proud that LPEA’s IBEW members are once again volunteering their time for this important effort,” said Mike Dreyspring, LPEA CEO. “We hope many folks will bring their food or cash donations to help support their neighbors and those less fortunate in our area.”
