Rebate Programs

La Plata Electric Association, Inc. (LPEA) offers rebates in conjunction with Tri-State Generation & Transmission’s rebate program. The overall program goal is to improve operating efficiency, including energy demand and kilowatt-hour use, across the cooperative’s power supply network 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Improved efficiency helps reduce costs for all members.

Rebates* available for homes and commercial members. Rebate program information below highlights the individual rebate programs offered by LPEA. Select the program links for complete rebate information and program requirements.

Energy Star Appliance Rebates

$20 per unit for new Energy Star rated dishwashers. $30 per unit for new Energy Star rated refrigerator, freezer, clothes washer and clothes dryer. $60 refrigerator/freezer recycling.

Permanent Electric Heater Rebates

Electric Thermal Storage (ETS) $30/kW for ETS heater controlled by timers or master control system. $30/kW for Thermal Slab heating controlled by timers or master control system.

Water Heater Rebates

$75 for Marathon water heaters, or any water heater with a lifetime tank warranty. $55 for all other electric water heaters. $350 for heat pump water heaters.

Electric Motor Rebates

$9/hp for Premium Efficiency Motors. $1.50/hp for wiring assistance if replacing a fossil-fueled engine, or is a new installation.

Heat Pump Systems (Air & Ground Source Heat Pumps) Rebates

Lighting Rebates

LED Light Bulbs: LPEA customers will receive up to a $8 rebate for each qualifying LED light bulb purchased. (Up to 50% of materials cost.)

Commercial Lighting: Amounts vary. Criteria** are available for schools and commercial establishments undertaking energy-efficient lighting installations and upgrades.

Commercial Lighting Retrofit: $250/kW of lighting load reduced, up to the $20,000 total. Rebate cannot exceed 50 percent of the lamp material costs.

Commercial LED Lighting New Construction: $750/kW of estimated lighting load reduced up to $20,000 per meter. Rebate cannot exceed 50% of bulb material costs. One rebate per customer per year.

Commercial Case Lighting Retrofit: $60 per door. Limit of 50 doors or $3,000.

Commercial Parking Lot/Street Lighting Retrofit: Lesser of 1/4 of the cost of the head or the sum of the per fixture values. Per project cap of $20,000.

** Commercial Lighting Rebate amounts are based on the energy to be saved per fixture (10-bulb minimum), capped at $20,000 per year, and cannot exceed 50% of lighting equipment cost.

Rebate Results: Families and businesses have received more than $4.04 million in rebates since they were introduced in 2008. Energy demand savings from GSHP and Dual Fuel Heat Pump installations exceed 3.2 megawatts compared to standard efficiency electric heating options. More than 4,976 Tons of high efficiency heating and cooling have been installed.
