Safety at La Plata Electric Association, Inc. (LPEA) is a top priority.
LPEA, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, is Colorado’s fifth largest electric distribution cooperative, covers more than 3,370 square miles and serves more than 33,000 individual, family and business members in La Plata and Archuleta, with segments of Hinsdale, Mineral and San Juan counties. We understand the responsibility we have as an electric distribution cooperative and recognize safety as one of our core values.
Education, Training and Information. The cooperative principle LPEA abides by to educate our member-owners, directors and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of our cooperative.
LPEA’s Safety Committee increases our employee’s electrical safety awareness through various U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations. The Colorado Rural Electric Association (CREA) provides additional training programs.
We believe safety is a culture that starts with our employees. As one of our core values we are committed to developing this culture within our organization and developing our employees to be leaders in electrical safety.
La Plata Electric Association’s Communication Department produces and provides educational materials, news releases and community programs regarding the dangers of electricity inside and outside a member’s home or business.
